But alas, no such hiding from life actually works. When it comes to our wellbeing, one of the best ways to function in life is to be fully awake. Sometimes we fall asleep at the wheel of life and we don’t realize what has happened to us. We’re tricked into believing we’re wide awake because our bodies are showing up to work, to PTA meetings, to the gym to social events etc. But we are not really present; instead we are actually sleepwalking through life. We have slipped down into the rabbit’s hole and because we’re putting one foot in front of the other, we convince ourselves that all is well.Sometimes this happens to us because• we are just bored with the path we’ve chosen in life; we know it’s not big enough, not challenging us to truly bring forth our amazing self• of a traumatic experience, we lose our job, we lose our home, a love one’s death, loss of a relationship, a major illness or accidentOne of the most challenging aspects of life is being in a place of acceptance when we are facing a difficult time and we realize that we are unable to change and make it the way we want it to be. While it is truly difficult at times, acceptance of what is, can be a very liberating experience. When you just say yes, and stop saying no, to what is.That’s when the ‘Serenity Prayer’ can be a guide for us.God grant me the serenityTo accept the things I cannot change;Courage to change the things I can;And wisdom to know the difference. Most of us fight against what we don’t like or can’t change until we finally realize that acceptance brings peace, brings serenity. We can say ‘no’ over and over again… But life always says yes.For today's goodness tip I suggest essences that uplift like lavender. Lavender inspires, yet relaxes and helps to clear the mind. Inhaling this beautiful essence can help to sooth us and offer clarity. Anu Essentials Herbal Hair Oil, Fresh Body Butter, Fresh Body Polish and Fresh Soap are all made with high grade lavender, not only for its aroma but also for the therapeutic qualities.Every day this week, I will be offering my musings on serenity, wisdom, and courage. This is the first installment. Please meditate over it, and if you keep a journal, write down all of the thoughts that come to you. Do you follow Anu Essentials on Instagram?
